Kenneth W. Heiser has been pursuing a passion for
woodworking his entire life. For the past thirty years he
and his wife, Lucinda, have owned and operated Kenneth W. Heiser,
Furniture Maker, located on their Cumberland Valley farm near
Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The exceptional quality and
authenticity of his work have made him one of the region's premier
artisans in furniture reproduction and restoration of American
antiques and artifacts. His reproductions of two pieces from
the collection of Colonial Williamsburg - a Virginia desk,
a bookcase and an Augusta County, Virginia tall-case clock - are on
display at the Williamsburg Craft House. Ken's list of
patrons also includes the Museum of American Fold Art and several
other museums, numerous antique dealers and private collectors.
Ken is involved in a broad range of other types of
woodworking. Decorative boxes and other wooden accessories
are made at the same location under the brand name of Yellow
Breeches Box Company. He also owns and operates Coyle
Lumber
& Millwork, Inc., specializing in custom architectural millwork
and exceptional lumber.

Colonial Williamsburg
and Fine Woodworking magazine had their sixth annual
Working Wood in the 18th Century conference at Colonial
Williamsburg, January 18-25, 2004. The topic was tall-case clocks
and Mr. Heiser was one of six renowned experts who lectured and
demonstrated.
At the left is an original flat top clock case,
c. 1775, and our reproduction of the same clock made of unfinished
poplar. Both were displayed by Mr. Heiser as a part of his
demonstrations. |
